Information about season 2021 22

Arrangements for season 2021/22

Registration for season 2021/22 will open mid-August 2021.  Early registration is encouraged - it assists the Committee in uniform ordering, and gives us a head start in allocating players into teams.

This season is proceeding in an environment of some uncertainty, given the Covid-related restrictions in place in August, which may be extended.  At this stage, we are working on the basis that Round 1 will proceed as planned on the held weekend of 9 and 10 October 2021, with the season continuing through to mid-December, and then resuming at the end of the January school holidays through to mid-March.  The Club will continue to monitor the Covid situation, and should there be any developments which necessitate changes to the upcoming season, we will notify players, parents and volunteers about those developments and any resulting changes.

For season 2021/22, North Sydney Juniors will be forming teams in the competitions and groups set out below.

Woolworths Junior Blaster Skills Program

This introductory skills-based program, with mini-games in small groups, will suit beginner-level boys and girls aged 4 to 6.  Held at St Leonards Park, North Sydney.

Woolworths Master Blaster Program

This program builds on the intro level skills gained through Junior Blaster, for ages 7 to 8, suiting boys and girls who want a bit more than intro-level, but are not yet ready for "whites" competition cricket.  It takes place Saturday mornings at Gore Hill Oval, St Leonards, running from 8.00am-9.30am.

Stage 1 cricket competitions

Age levels U9 to U11 play Stage 1 "participation" cricket, in games against other clubs on the North Shore.  Matches are held Saturday mornings.  Games have a 20/20 format, with modified rules.  Games start at 8am or 10.30am.  Typically these games take about 2 hours to complete.  Fixtures are published prior to the start of the season on the NSJCA website

Age categories are determined based on the player's age as at 31 August 2021.

Teams usually train one afternoon per week.

Stage 2 and 3 cricket competitions

The club also forms team in stages 2 and 3 competitions at U12 to U17 levels.  Games are held on Saturdays (am / pm) or Sunday mornings, depending on the division and age group.  Fixtures are published prior to the start of the season on the NSJCA website.

For season 2021/22, we will be forming teams for the "long format" competitions in the U12 to U17 age groups through a grading process. For U12 and U13, this will take the form of a grading day, held on Sunday 12 September 2021.  More details will be provided closer to the time.

We will also be forming a number of social / non-graded teams in those age groups.

Girls Sixers League

The club will enter "girls only" teams in the U11, U13 and U15 Girls Sixers League, as well as the U18 Brewer Shield Competition.  U11 games are held on Saturday mornings, and U13 and U15 games on Saturday afternoons.
